It is difficult to say exactly how long you can live without water. It will totally depend on the climate and your physical fitness, as well as activity.

Traditionally, our ancestors would know where the water sources were. They would have used their bushcraft skills to collect the water and keep living in the wild.

Basically, you are doing the same as our ancestors did. Back then, they kept locating new water sources and gave the marks to the locations so that they can find it again in the future.

If you, by chance, bring any map, you could just find it easily. Let’s say you are nowhere and you get lost. Your very first step to locating the water source is by attaining altitude. Climb the tree, ridgeline, cliff, or other altitudes. This will give you perfect view to locate the natural source of water nearby. Not to mention that you can also look at other wildlife and animals.

This brings us to the next tip. When you cannot locate the water directly, the wildlife will be the next indicator of the water source. Some wildlife species will never get too far from the water source. You will see the animals moving through the wilderness. Follow their trails and you will possibly find the water in the wild.

There will be paddle boarding in kauai although you are lost. When you see the paw prints or hoof prints, you have the greater chance to find the lead to the water source.

Fresh droppings alongside those prints will also give you the sign to the water direction.

When you’ve found the reliable source of water, you will need to make the water safe to drink. This involves two processes: clarification and purification. We will explain this in the next blog post. So, make sure you subscribe to our newsletter and find the next information on our next post.
